Governor Walker signs bill naming SLAM for Fr. Kashevaroff

Father-Kashevarof

Last week Governor Bill Walker signed the bill naming the new State Library, Archives, and Museum (SLAM) building for Father Andrew P. Kashevaroff, the first librarian and curator of the Alaska museum and library that opened in Juneau in 1919, as well as the Russian Orthodox priest of Juneau’s St. Nicholas Church.  The bill also names a reading room in the library for the late Nome legislator and avid researcher Richard Foster.
