The Seward Community Library & Museum is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our small but mighty team in beautiful small town Seward, Alaska!  We are hiring a full time Library Museum Program Coordinator for our uniquely combined local history museum, public library, archives and community center.  Benefits include health insurance and retirement.  Starting wage depends upon experience.  This position will remain open until filled.

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT: LIBRARY MUSEUM PROGRAM COORDINATOR

The City of Seward is seeking applications for the position of Library Museum Program Coordinator.  All applicants should deliver a cover letter indicating their interest and a current resume to the Personnel Officer.

This is a full-time regular position with benefits, starting at $19.33 (R11.5A) Performs difficult and complex technical library museum tasks based upon detailed knowledge of specific library and museum functions. Responsible for programs and event planning and implementation for the library and museum. Responsible for the collection development and maintenance of the youth library collections and materials. Recruits, trains and manages all interns, volunteers and community service workers. Serves as acting director in the absence of the Library Museum Director.

Education and/or Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. Undergraduate degree in Education or related field preferred. Three years’ experience in program planning and implementation desired. Strong background in Children’s literature and knowledge of children’s behaviors. Computer literacy in basic word processing, Internet searching techniques and familiarity with desktop publishing.
